大家首先想到的一般是「醫生」

不過當外國朋友對你說「You‘re the doctor」

可不要理解為「你是醫生」

對方只是尊重你的想法

1  「You‘re the doctor」是什麼意思？

最早的時候

You‘re the doctor出現在病人和醫生的對話中

病人生病了去醫院看病

醫生通過問診和身體檢查以后

告訴病人接下來的治療方案

這時，病人對醫生說

「 You‘re the doctor.」

表達「（因為你是醫生） 你說的都對」。

后來這句話在日常口語中

引申為「服從命令、聽指揮」意思

相當于 「你說的對，聽你的」

例：

You’re the doctor！ I‘ll do it.

你說的對，我會去做的。

2「go for the doctor」不是「去找醫生」

英文詞典里對go for the doctor是這樣解釋的：

To give something one‘s full effort or attention.

即： 使某人全力做某事，或專注于某事

例：

He is going for the doctor to win the game.

他將全力以赴地贏得比賽。

Are you going for the doctor to pass the exam？

你將會全力以赴地通過這場考試嗎？

3「just what the doctor ordered」不是「醫生命令」

當病人生病時

他當下最需要的就是醫生為其看病開藥

所以 just what the doctor ordered的真正含義是

需要的東西；期望的東西

例：

I was so hungry， and that meal was absolutely delicious！ It was just what the doctor ordered.

我餓極了，那頓飯真的太美味了，正是我想要的。

A short nap is just what the doctor ordered. You‘ll feel refreshed in no time.

你現在只需要打個小盹兒，很快就會覺得清醒了。
