漢語博大精深，英語也是一種奇妙的語言。很多習語（英語或漢語），光看表面意思，常常容易鬧笑話。

當你看美劇時出現了dog-ear，它是「狗耳朵」的意思嗎？實則不然。

1   dog-ear

dog-ear可不是翻譯成「狗耳朵」，當你把狗狗的耳朵耷拉下來，很像是折了腳的書頁。這個詞非常特殊，既可作名詞、動詞，還能作形容詞：

做名詞：a folded-down corner of a page 書頁的折角，可用作復數。 做動詞：to fold down the corner of （a page） 將書頁折起角 形容詞：dog-eared （書）翻舊了的；（書頁）折角的

不要將借來的書的書頁折角。

2    good ear

千萬不要翻譯為「好耳朵」，good ear是一個引申義短語，意思是敏銳的聽覺、辨別聲音。所以有人對你說「good ear」，是夸你的聽力好。

短語：have a good ear for 對某事物有好的鑒賞，領悟能力。

He has a good ear for music.

他對音樂很有鑒賞力。

3    pig‘s ear

pig‘s ear是豬耳朵，那make a pig’s ear呢？可不是「做豬耳朵」哦，而是「把某事搞砸」的意思。所以到你快要考試的時候可別吃豬耳朵，意味著你把考試搞砸了。

I‘m giving you one more chance， so don’t make a pig‘s ear of it！

我再給你一次機會，這回你可別再搞砸了！

4   up to my ears

當有人對你說「I‘m up to my ears」.時，你就不要再去打擾別人了，人家可沒時間理你，因為up to my ears意思是忙極了、忙得不可開交。

I have no time for a holiday； I‘m up to my ears in work at the moment.

我沒有時間度假，眼下我工作忙得不可開交。
