「take a rain check」字面意思是「拿一張雨票」。

短語起源來自美國的棒球文化，如果比賽時因惡劣天氣而不得不終止，官方將發給觀眾交換券（check），憑借此券可以觀看下一次的比賽。

由此衍生出了 take a rain check，使用在將約定改期的情況下。
