As … as 是常見的比較結構，其中第一個 as 是副詞，修飾后面的形容詞或副詞，第二個 as 是連詞或介詞，那麼毫無疑問，as good as 意為「與什麼一樣好」，然而事實卻往往不是這個意思。
在英語中，good 以各種形式表現出「好」，但是被常用的往往卻只有零星幾種，是一個被低估甚至是被用錯的單詞，如 as good as 結構中的 good。
要弄清楚 as good as 的真正意思，首先得看看 good 的用法到底是什麼樣的，它可不是簡單的「好的」意思那麼簡單，「好的」形式主要有以下幾個方面：
一、高質量或符合某個標準的「好」，也就是常被使用的一種，例如：
The car was wearing out and no longer in a good condition.
這輛汽車在磨損，狀況不再良好。
因此，與其說 My English is poor，還不如說 My English is not good.
二、令人愉快或滿意的「好」，例如：
We are still able to keep in touch with each other， though， which is good.

四、能干的或精通的「好」，常用于在結構 be good at （sth/doing sth） 中，例如：
Isobel has always been good at reserving cheep rooms.

五、善于應付的或精明的「好」，常用于結構 be good with （sth/sb） 中，例如：
She‘s very good with the old.

十一、相當大或相當多的「好」，如 a good few 或 a good many 等，例如：

還有好幾張票。
The dining room is a good size.
這餐廳相當大。
十二、不少于的「好」，例如：
It‘s good ten miles to the airport.
離機場至少十英里遠。
十三、徹底的或完全的「好」，例如：

他們因損失痛哭了一場。
十四、有效的「好」，例如：
The coupon is only good for two days.
優惠券有效期只有兩天。
十五、正派或高尚的「好」，例如：
Giving the poor woman that money was a good thing to do.
給那個可憐的女人錢是件善事。
其實 good 的實際用法還不止，是一個真正被低估的單詞，而且有些 good 的用法還不包含在內，特別是一些習語，如 good money，它不是任何一種「好」錢，而表示「大筆的錢，辛苦掙來的錢」。
又如 as good as gold 也不是「和金子一樣好」，而是「規規矩矩，很乖」等意思，相當于 good 的其中一個意思，例如：
The kids have been as good as gold all day.
孩子們一整天都很乖。
還有如 as good as，它的表面意思不容置疑，但是它額外的意思或用法更是無人問津，此時的 good 也不是任何一種「好」。
特別用法的 as good as 相當于一個副詞，意為「與…幾乎一樣；幾乎；簡直是」，相當于 very neary，例如：
The problem up in the air for a long time is as good as settled.
這個懸而未決的問題幾乎已經解決了。
因此在實際應用中，要根據不同的情景選擇合適的 good，只有所有都好，才是好，才是 good。
